＜EVENT 1＞
Shiro Takatani × ZAK Special Talk
“INSIDE 《async – immersion》: A Dialogue on Sound, Image, and Space”
A special talk featuring Shiro Takatani, artist of the exhibition, and sound director ZAK.
Through their dialogue, the two will explore the making of 《async – immersion》, the process of bringing Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music into space, and the relationship between sound and image.
Following the talk, guests will have a special opportunity to experience the work in the same space as the speakers.

＜EVENT 2＞
FRIDAY NIGHT SESSION | after hours – free flow tea by ochayoi
Ochayoi, a tea culture community centered around the experience of “tea drunkenness,” will join us for a special evening of Chinese tea, shared encounters, and 《async – immersion》.
Throughout the evening, Chinese tea will be served free-flow in the shop area. Guests are free to move between the exhibition and the tea space—to drink tea, experience the work, and exchange impressions and interpretations with others.
Rather than experiencing the work alone, this event invites visitors to encounter it in a different way: through tea, dialogue, and sharing the experience with others.
On October 2, “Roka Ongaku,” a recurring music event staged in the corridors of Azabudai Hills, will also take place. Re-entry to 《async – immersion》 will be permitted exclusively for this event, allowing ticket holders to enjoy both experiences throughout the evening.

＜PROFILES＞
Shiro Takatani
In 1984, while studying at Kyoto City University of Arts, Shiro Takatani joined Dumb Type, contributing to the creation of performances and installations using a wide range of media and presenting works at theaters, museums, and art centers around the world.
In 1998, he began pursuing his solo practice alongside his work with Dumb Type. In 2021, TIME, a theater piece created with Ryuichi Sakamoto, received its world premiere at the Holland Festival. In 2022, Dumb Type welcomed Sakamoto as a new member and presented the new work 《2022》 at the Japan Pavilion of the Venice Biennale. In 2023, “Dumb Type | 2022: remap,” the return exhibition following the Venice Biennale presentation, was held at the Artizon Museum in Tokyo. In spring 2024, TIME was presented at the New National Theatre, Tokyo, and ROHM Theatre Kyoto. His installation 《WINDOWS》 is currently on view at Museum Tower Kyobashi in Tokyo.
ZAK
Sound Director
ZAK works internationally across live sound, studio recording, and spatial sound design.
His work with Ryuichi Sakamoto includes FOH sound for concert tours; recording and mixing for the film Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus; and sound for works including 《TIME》, 《async – immersion》, and 《KAGAMI》.
Under the name ZakYumiko, he has also participated as a producer in works by Takashi Murakami. Recent projects include “Ryuichi Sakamoto | seeing sound, hearing time” at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, evala’s “ebb tide,” and acoustic projects for architectural spaces with Wonderwall. His practice continues to move across art, architecture, and technology.

Ochayoi
Ochayoi is a tea culture community centered around the experience of “tea drunkenness”*¹. Under the theme “bringing tea to places without tea,” the community organizes tea gatherings in a wide range of settings across Japan, from offices and riverbanks to galleries, expanding the possibilities of contemporary tea culture.
Ochayoi defines tea culture broadly to encompass all activities surrounding tea—gathering around it, drinking it, brewing it, talking over it, and becoming “tea drunk.” Through these practices, the community aims to encourage each participant to become an active practitioner of a new tea culture.
*¹ “Tea drunkenness” refers to a state in which drinking multiple infusions of hot tea over an extended period can produce both relaxation, through warmth and minerals, and alertness from caffeine. Chinese tea is typically brewed with water at around 100°C and enjoyed over five, six, or more infusions, making it particularly suited to this experience.
